Massage Therapy

Therapy sessions consist primarily of hands-on treatment of the body's soft tissues, specifically the muscles, connective tissues, tendons, ligaments and joints. Treatments help to optimize health and well-being by acting on the muscular, nervous and circulatory systems of the body.

Therapy can provide beneficial effects for many different conditions. Most of the conditions for which a person would seek the assistance of a Massage Therapist can be classified as either Therapeutic or Prophylactic.

Therapeutic Massage
This treatment is typically used to treat new or acute conditions you want to recover and rehabilitate from. This can include surgeries, injuries, sudden onset of soft tissue pain, headaches and much more. Getting back to 'normal' is the goal associated with therapeutic massage.

Prophylactic Massage
This treatment is meant to deter or prevent progression of a condition. Arthritis, fibromyalgia, scoliosis, repetitive strain injuries, headaches and migraines, stress, anxiety, depression and ADD/ADHD management are examples of conditions of a more chronic nature which can benefit from massage therapy. The goal is to help manage pain and slow progression while mitigating the use of medications.
